BIO-TIC Workshop on Bio-based Plastics

BIO-TIC is a FP7 European-funded project on Industrial Biotechnology

The BIO-TIC workshop on bioplastics took place in December 2014 in Brussels.

The event concluded that the appeal of bioplastics currently comes from specialty polymers’ improved features and possible packaging applications. Quotas, selective bans on traditional plastics and more widely a green public procurement program can help kick-start markets and create critical mass. To further improve product functionalities, technical information sharing across all levels should be promoted.
